How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

If you’re having difficulties with your AirPods not charging, or if there’s been a different issue with the device, you might need to reset it.

Place your AirPods in the charging case, and then close the lid.

Pause for half a minute.

Open the lid of your phone case.

With your AirPods right in front of you, go to Settings > Bluetooth or Settings > [your AirPods] and tap More Info next to your Airpods. If you don’t see your AirPods in either of those places, just go on to the next step.

Tapping Forget This Device and then tapping again will remove the device.

When you first use the case*, make sure it has a charge. Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.

Reconnect your AirPods: Put your AirPods in their charging case with the lid open, then place them near your phone, tablet, or iPod touch. Follow the on-screen instructions.

AirPods must be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use AirPods or AirPods Pro that someone else has used, they first need to remove the AirPods from their Apple ID.

  • When you reset your AirPods, the settings for your AirPods also reset. You can customize them again.
